p036 Barb C Santa Cruz "Nai'a" Dog Behaviourist
Litter: PennyPepper / Maximus
I am truly blown away at what an amazing puppy I got! Of course I saw it in both her parents. She rode the full 4 hours home next to me in the front seat. Mostly slept. No whines, pee, poop or vomit. Willingly went into the crate for the night - slept with one potty break until 7:30 this morning. I could go on .... She is easy!
I tried to order a kuranda dog bed from amazon. I decided since I have numerous dog beds maybe I don't need one. Well this is what I found this morning! I guess she is trying to tell me something. I will order it today! She continues to be just a wonderful pup!! :))
How do I use the new bed??:
My easy girl already knows sit, down, look, wait, comes to whistle, leave it, no, to stay on her dog bed, and drop it. I'm a proud mom! Went right into the river and swam strong! Even in the current. I gave out your info on Cinnamon & Maximus' litter because Nai'a is such a super star.
Comet ... (Whisper / Rufus litter)
Comet is doing great. He loves to be with us, especially my husband. He gets along with other dogs but definitely rather play ball with us than run around with other dogs. He absolutely loves the water whether it be the beach, lake, pool, or even sitting outside in the rain. As soon as he sees a body of water he tries to get to it. He is pretty well behaved. I attached a picture of him when we went to cut down our Christmas tree.
Comet @ 2yrs
Libby ... (Whisper / Rufus litter)
Libby is doing wonderful. From the get go, we knew that we had a winner. She is very smart loving and has a wonderful personality that everyone loves. I do have to say she is quite spoiled (my fault) and enjoys being around people and right beside us for lots of love.
We take her camping, to the beach and on overnight visits to family and friends.
We love our baby and look forward to every minute we spend with her. As I sit writing this email, she is patiently waiting for me to play. Please feel free to post her pictures on your website. We would love everyone to be able to see what a great addition to our family we were so lucky to get to bring home.
Libby @ 2-1/2 yrs
Jackson ... (Whisper / Rufus litter)
I’m sure you get these all the time. I just wanted to update you on the latest on our little guy. We had pick of the litter on the males from the Whisper and Rufus pups in January (to remind you). So this little guy is probably the most popular dog in Napa Valley at this point. He is the ambassador for the winery everywhere we go. He comes to work with me every day and the guests love him.
He has also been the most easily trainable dog ever, at 14 weeks he is amazing with all of our guests at the winery as well as children, other dogs and even cats. He listens so well and is honestly the sweetest thing I have ever met. He is also growing like a weed! The first visit to the vet he was 8.7 lbs, last week he was 27.8 lbs. Because of your training he was 90% house broken when we brought him home at 8 weeks, and slept nearly through the night in the kennel from the beginning. Anyway, we just wanted to express our happiness and appreciation for all that you do with your litters. We were a little nervous about getting a dog thinking we might not be ready, now we realize it’s the best thing we could have ever done. However, he would not be the dog he is without your attention to detail in the breeding lines and care as an infant pup with his mother and litter.
Thank you for giving us the love of our life. We truly could not be happier. And don’t be surprised if you start getting calls from Napa Valley for dogs, everyone wants to know where we got him because he is so good and sooooo handsome
I have attached a few photos of him also.
THANK YOU!
Chloe ... (Willow / Rufus litter)
Jake is great! He absolutely rules the house and the cat now gives him a wide berth. He is so much like Rufus. Can't get enough of playing ball and seems to have one in his mouth whenever he can. Loves to chase the ball but not so good at bringing it back. I am afraid I might have spoiled him like my kids . Oh well. He also has a ferocious sneer that he loves to display for the camera. Looks scary but its all show. Sending some pics. Hope you and your family have a wonderful new year. I know that Jakes birthday is coming up. Where did 3 years go? All the best
Jake @ 3 yrs
Noah ... (Jasmine / Rufus litter)
Just wanted to send a couple pictures of "Noah". He is absolutely delightful. My husband who had reservations about a "big dog" fell in love instantly when Noah ran up to greet him and then followed him everywhere he went. Of course my granddaughter loves him, and he's really wonderful with her - already so gentle. He is a treasure.
I got the crate you suggested and he was fine last night after just a few minutes of whining. He is a love sponge and had a hard time understanding that he's not a "lap dog" but when I put a blanket down by my chair, he just curled up and went to sleep at my feet after only a couple corrections!
Everyone had suggestions for names: My oldest daughter said "Heffe", the youngest daughter wanted "Gus, the neighbor said "Newton", and finally my 3 year old granddaughter insisted that his name was "Jack" ... ultimately my husband and I sat down with him and asked him what his name was and then I blurted out the first name that came to mind, with was "Noah" and when I said it, he came right to me and my husband loved it. So, that has settled it. My granddaughter still calls him "Noah-Jack" but it does seem to suit him. So, thans for bringing this little (okay, not so little) fellow into our lives. Thanks again.
Annie ... (Penny / Maximus - litter)
p001 Richard N Reno, NV & Depoe Bay, OR "Hoosier"
Litter: Buttercup / Moosey
Don & Wendy, Hi. I have always wanted to drop you a note on the golden that we purchased from you last January. If you remember my wife, daughter, and I came down from the Reno, Nevada area and purchased one of the males you had. I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful dog he is. His name is Hoosier and he without a doubt is the "World's Most Perfect Dog"!!! He is the greatest companion and the most friendly and most loveable dog I have ever seen. Everyone just loves him. He has very few bad habits all of which will go away with the puppy-hood. He has a massive appetite and just loves to play and please other people. I could not have gotten a better dog as my first ever dog. I have enclosed a jpeg picture of him even though it is not the greatest picture as he looks a little sad but he is anything but sad. He is almost 75 pounds now and is as strong as an Ox. Other people have wanted to know who the breeder was so I thought I would ask you fist if it would be OK to give out your e-mail address. There is only one person that I will give the address to as he is up here in Oregon where I live now and he is a former golden owner and they lost it to old age about a year ago and they are looking. He even offered to purchase my dog. No way!!!! Well thanks so much for the great dog and companion. All for now. Thanks again..... With best regards..... Richard N
p002 Yvette P SF, Ca "Haley"
Litter: Jasmine / Rufus
I am sure alot of people you sell puppies to send you pics and all, but I had to take the time to send you a pic of Haley (Rufus & Jasmine girl) our beautiful golden that we bought from you last year, she is amazing and truly I have never owned a dog that is as smart and easy to train as her. I just had to drop a line to give you props for doing what you do because the difference in her and other goldens when it comes to her temperment and mellowness is unbelievable, and she actually watches TV with us, so cute. Well keep up the good work and dont stop breeding cause we may want another one in a couple years haha!! Yvette
p003 Christine O San Bruno, Ca "Bruno"
Litter: Jasmine / Rufus
Not sure if you remember me - I am a friend of Vance and Virginia J. I purchased a golden retriever from you December 2007 - He was one of Jasmine and Rufus' pups. I was going through some old e-mails and I found a picture of Rufus and my dog, Bruno, looks just like him. Attached is a picture of him - he's the blonde one - the red retriever is a friend who Bruno runs and plays with. Bruno has been a great addition to our family - he's 85 pounds, still has a lot of energy but has done well with his training. Hope you are doing well. Christine O
p004 Erin and Brae H Reno, Nv "Rufio"
Litter:
Hello from Reno! Rufio, our new puppy, is fitting in well with our family and his personality if growing every day. I've attached some photos from yesterday afternoon. It was the first snow of the year and I've never seen him so happy!
Thought you would like to see him and how much he looks like Rufus. Hope all is well and thanks again, Erin and Brae H
p005 Nancy P Carmichael, Ca "Murray" Repeat Adoptee
Litter:
Don, Just touching base to let you know how much we love our golden. Murray is so smart and pretty much over the puppy stuff at six months old. If you will recall, we also bought his brother for our grandson who named his Charley.
I wanted to let you know that our Vet wanted your info because she said Murray was the perfect example of what the Golden Retriever breed should be. She even said she was a bit sorry that she neutered him as he would have made a beautiful show dog. She also liked your philosophy about all the local and national politics surrounding AKC etc. Her name is Lori Farber (Blue Cross Pet Hospital in Carmichael) and says she is thinking about getting one later next year.
Hope all is going well with you and Wendy and wonder how Ashley is doing?. She was such a beautiful little baby girl. Nancy P
p006 Carol and Dennis F "Rusty"
Litter: Misty / Moosey
Don, We just wanted to touch base with you and tell you how much we are enjoying our puppy. Rusty is the male pup from Misty and Moosey's litter. We are very happy with him. His training is coming along great. He is a very intelligent pup. We have introduced him to the boat and water. He likes the boat and is working on the swimming,(still a bit shy). Not a day goes by that people are telling us what a beautiful dog we have. Thank you so much for our baby. He is 6 months old now and about 55 lbs. He is going to be a big boy. Again, thank you. Carol and Dennis F
p007 John and Jack R Berkeley, Ca "Olga"
Litter: Chooey / Rufus
NOTE: I've been trying to get this written since Christmas. Sorry for the delay... but I'm sending it out today, ready or not, before she outgrows these photos.
Dear Don and Wendy, As our puppy, Olga, turned six-months-old this past week, we wanted to share with you how she is and how happy we are to have her. In a word, she's GREAT! Her temperament and behavior is exceptional; she's excellent with all people; she plays well with other dogs; she's intelligent and learns quickly; and she's a good traveler. She completed a six week puppy class in November (with honors), and has moved on to individual instruction which she is presently doing very well in (as you well know, we are the ones really being trained). She is a BIG sweetheart; and, as you can see from the enclosed photos, she is a stunner! We marvel at her multi-toned honey-colored coat. Hardly a day goes by when someone doesn't comment about how absolutely gorgeous she is. We joke about the notion that if owners do look like their dogs, then she couldn't possibly belong to us. Did all of Chooey and Rufus' puppies turn out so beautiful? We can hardly wait for her hair to grow out. And she has been growing like a weed. On December 23rd she weighed in at 47 pounds. And our dog trainer, Steve Betcher, has been so impressed with her that he took a couple short videos with his phone that we thought you might like to see.
Finally, thank you for providing us with a wonderful new member of our family. Nature has a lot to with it, but without your skill, attention and caring, our puppy would not be on her way to becoming the excellent companion we had hoped for.
Sincerely, Jack and John R
p008 Ginger N "Koji"
Litter: Chooey / Rufus
I thought you might like to see some recent pictures of Koji (from Chooey and Rufus July 2010 litter). He is beautiful, smart, and has a very comical personality. He has done very well in his puppy classes and will start Puppy 3 in 2 weeks. He has been a great pup and promises to become a wonderful dog. He really tries hard to please and is very enthusiastic about learning new things. We love him!!! Thanks so much for breeding great Goldens! Sincerely, Ginger N
p009 Ellen N Tucson, Az "Nevada"
Litter: Jasmine / Rufus
Hi, Don. Just to keep you updated Nevada & us have moved to Tucson, June of last year. I want you to know that Nevada is a wonderful dog. She is very strong willed, has an unbelievable appetite & is definitely the Alpha dog in this family. She is a great running companion. We do the hills in the area where we live 2 or 3xs/wk, 5 - 7 miles. She definitely is not happy running in the summer even though I get up at 5 or 5:30. She loves swimming & her diving for rings skill is better with each day. She goes to the bottom of the shallow end & does her very best to reach every one. She is very fast in the water. We live in a home with a lot of stairs so she is in fantastic shape. I watch what she eats so there is no fat on her, just pure muscle. She is very strong with a loving personality & a beautiful disposition. Thank you for the wonderful pair that were her parents. Hope you are well. Ellen Nielsen
Happy New Year Don! I wanted to send a photo of Nevada hen she completed her Good Citizenship class. She looks like an angel but don't believe it. She is really beautiful & has her own personality. She actually rolls her eyes if she doesn't want to listen to you. She also runs with me an hour and also on the treadmill for an hour if I am on the elliptical
Don, Check out Nevada on youtube. You bred a star. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE3pEkplj3M

Hi Don, I wanted to send you a few pictures of Deuce as he is almost 6 months! We just love him to pieces and he has been the best puppy! He is so loving and I was already walking with him off leash at 5 months! He is just the best! To say the least we could not be happier! I walk with him almost everyday, and he gets so many compliments! He is such a beautiful dog! I have mentioned your name more than a dozen times! Hope all is well, and thank you again! Best, Sarah B

Litter: Chooey / Rufus
Sorry I missed getting out some photos of Olga on her one-year birthday, but things have been somewhat disjointed here for the past few months. My Dad, also named John, passed away from congestive heart failure a couple days after Olga's birthday. He had not been well for several months, and was not in the best of shape when we picked out Olga. He was eighty-five. Dad lives on, though, in her. She was his last, great gift to me. And I'm quite sure that her presence in our lives kept Dad going a good six months more than he would have without her. And now, about her: she is wonderful! She is all the things I mentioned eight months ago when I wrote before, and more. She successfully completed individual training and an off-leash training course. She has several regular playmates, wants to be a friend to about ninety-nine percent of other dogs, and has yet to find a person she doesn't love. And while she's looking less like a puppy every day, she still bounces around like one. She loves to chase balls, to be chased herself, and loves everything to do with and in water.
She is my best friend. Thank you so much for her. We hope you are all well. JR
p011 Tom and Deborah P Yuba City, Ca "Annie"
Litter: Penny / Maximus
Hi Don, Just wanted to give you an Annie update. She has slept through the night every. single. night! We are working on house training and making progress. Still a few accidents, but it has only been one week. She knows how to fetch her ball and bring it back and "drop it". We were amazed how quickly she picked up on that. We started working on "stay" 2 days ago to allow us to go through the door first. We took her to the vet and he said she looked great! Her stool specimen came back with what he called a "touch" of Giardia. She does not have any cysts and he said some vets would not even treat it if the puppy does not have any symptoms. He chose to treat it, but like I said, she is symptom-free. Annie cried in the car all the way home, but as soon as we were home, she stopped, and there has been no further crying. She seems to be really happy with us! We love her and we are so happy that the family that originally made a deposit on her had to change their plans. She is really a sweet, sweet girl, and a wonderful addition to our family. I know she is going to grow up to be a really great dog! With much appreciation, Deborah
I am truly blown away by our “Annie” who was originally reserved for another family, but they backed out when it was time to get her because it wasn’t a good time for them to get a puppy. You boarded her for us for 2 weeks because we already had plans. We love her to pieces, she is our Annie and we couldn't imagine life without her. We have said many, many, many times that the family that reserved her, but did not get her would be kicking themselves if they knew HOW AMAZING she turned out to be!
She is so very amazing! She is very, very smart and intuitive. Between the two, she can almost read your thoughts! My husband and I have had to “spell” words and phrases around her if we don’t want her to know what we are talking about! Annie knows over 50 words/phrases!!!( I’ve stopped counting and writing them down)
We hired a trainer to help us teach her to do on and off leash. The trainer told us he was “taking” our money because the dog was trained and it was us that needed the training-ha!
She “tucks” us into bed at night, then jumps down and sleeps by my side of the bed. She “watches” tv…..really and will ask to have it turned on. Annie is very “vocal” and “talks” to us, she makes her wishes known. We wanted to keep her out of our pool, but my husband allowed her to watch a video of dogs swimming in a pool and she then immediately went out and jumped into ours! I know that sounds like I’m making it up, but I’m not.
Potty training was a snap! Everything I have taught her has been so easy. She is now over 1 -1/2 years old and she has NEVER gone potty on her walks and we take her 1-4x per day. We don’t have to take the dreaded plastic bag of shame! She doesn’t associate her walks with potty and thinks only of it as exercise. We always told her to go potty before her walks when she was little so I think that is why. She goes in the same place every day in the yard, so easy for clean up!
And lastly, but so important, she loves everyone and everything, even cats! She welcomes everyone into our home and thinks they are there to see her. This, of course is not good if you are looking for a guard dog, but that is not what we wanted. We wanted a sweet, loving family dog and boy o’ boy did we get one! She is loving but also independent. She is smart, but also stubborn. She is sassy but also sweet. She is confident, but also cautious. We think she is almost perfect, of course no dog is perfect, but she sure comes close!
She doesn’t dig, bark or tear up anything in the house when we are gone. She does love to “counter surf” especially if you leave “goodies” out. She is very gentle with her toys which consist of a lot of stuffed animals. She loves to play frisbee and her ball. She even “makes up” games for us to play with her!
We love her to pieces, she is our Annie and we couldn't imagine life without her. We have said many, many, many times that the family that reserved her, but did not get her would be kicking themselves if they knew HOW AMAZING she turned out to be! I don’t know if you get these kind of letters from the other litter-mates of that litter, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you do.
I could go on and on about Annie, and I’ve probably forgotten to say a lot about her, but I wanted you to know, as I’m sure you must wonder from time to time about the puppies you breed, what they actually turn out to be like. Well, this one turned out to be awesome! Sincerely, Deborah P

Litter: Misty / Maxmus
Hello! I thought I would send you a little update on our puppy, Jackson, that came from Misty and Maximus' litter born almost 7 months ago now. Time has flown by with Jackson and we can't believe how quickly he has grown. At 6.5 months he was 53 lbs. Jackson did very well in puppy school and is so much fun. He has tons of energy and loves going to the dog park, beach and most recently swimming in Lake Tahoe! We get so many compliments about how friendly and beautiful he is! We've passed along your name to a number of people who want a dog just like him. We couldn't be happier with him and can't imagine him not being in our family now. Thank you so much! p014 Tia H Washington "Palmer"
Litter:
Hi Don. Happy new year! It was 2 years ago this past Monday that we picked up our little Palmer girl from you. She has been the best dog EVER!!! She is so well behaved, was very easy to train, sleeps great, is so patient, never cried and still never cries, barks only when she is supposed to, is such a lover and a cuddler without being annoying. She just loves little kids. When she sees them when we are out walking, she stops and sits until they come play with her. She's just awesome! We just love her and are now talking about getting a second one sometime after May. I can't get enough of our little one!
I have been meaning to write for quite some time. Our dog, Palmer, who we picked up on December 29 several years ago is now four years old. She is the sweetest most endearing dog we have ever owned. She has such a loving demeanor and is wonderful with other dogs, kids and people. In fact, when we take her to doggy day care she would prefer to hang out with the people who run the place versus all the dogs in the play area.
p015 Susie R Pleasanton, Ca "Summer"

Thank you for checking in. We love our sweet "Summer". She is the most loving, sweet dog we have ever had. She is such a beautiful dog as well! I have attached a few pictures. Hope all is well. Take care, The R family. Pleasanton, ca.

Coco is 1 year old today. I attached her pictures. She has a little brother chico (Coco thinks she's a cat, or vice versa!). She is doing very well. She is going to day care every day during the week to play with her friends. She has graduated the puppy school and now going to intermediate school.

Hi Don, Coco is a beautiful little girl. She is so gorgeous and healthy. She moved to Turkey with me. We are living in beach house by the south coast of Turkey. She is enjoying it with her Husky cousin. Cheers, Hale
p017 Mark L "Peaches"
Litter:
Hey Don- thanks for checking in. We love Peaches and have had a great first year with her. Behavior-wise, she is very different than our other 10-year old Golden (Winnie). Winnie has always been very mellow and docile while Peaches is much more energetic, likes to run and play fetch non-stop, etc. Also, she's kind of naughty (e.g. Food off countertops, chews up almost everything she can find, lots of barking, etc.). We love her just the same and realize like kids, they're all different! Here's a few pics...Peaches is the smaller, more tan-colored one and Winnie is the larger, whiter one. Thanks again and hope all is well, Mark
p018 Misty A Portland, OR "Zoey"

Zoey is doing well. We love her a lot. We moved from the bay area to Portland, Oregon. We all love it. Have a happy new year! Enjoy the attached pics. In Christ's Love, Misty

Here is our Xmas card! Tessa is very loved by our family and is the sweetest dog. Thanks for checking in! Kelly
p020 Jessica R Bay area "Luna"
Litter:
Hi Don - Great hearing from you! Luna is a wonderful part of our family. We adore her. She's extremely spoiled and probably could use more training, but that's our bad not hers. She also goes for daily walks with a dog walker and two-three dogs who she loves. We often are asked where we got her, and we give them your info. Luna and Lucy (from the same litter) met about a year ago because they were at the same Doggie Day Care, and I just happened to be picking her up at the same time as Lucy's dad. Lucy's dad was sure Luna was his dog, and then we figured out that they were sisters! We got together with them a few times for the girls to play, but we haven't seen them in a while because they had a new baby. Attached are a few photos of Luna! Jessica
p021 Audrey A "Max"
Litter:
Hi Don. Here is Max chewing on what remains of my rose bushes. Apparently thorns don't bother him! While a shredder digger fellow we still love him and he's a part of the family. My mother claims he's worse than the dog Marley in the movie. Although I must say he's behaving much better recently. And he's up to 97 lbs. and he killed his first rat the other day! Audrey
p022 Kristen L "Buster"
Litter:
Hi Don - Thanks for checking in on our Buster. It is so hard to believe that we have only had him less than two years, it feels like he has always been a part of our family. We love him dearly. He is an amazing dog. He is a true golden- definitely loves all people and is extremely loyal and devoted to our family. He loves to take long walks, hike up in the hills with us, attend our kids sporting events and loves water! He is the best family dog ever and a wonderful companion for our three kids. He is still quite the puppy and full of energy so we make sure to get him lots of exercise every day. He was extremely easy to train. He was potty trained in just a couple of weeks after we got him. He loves the crate you recommended and still sleeps in it every single night. He is great walking on a leash and "pretty" good off leash as long as he doesn't see a squirrel he would like to chase. :) We constantly get compliments from people about what a beautiful dog he is. We just love him and can't imagine our lives without our sweet boy! Oh- and he ended up bigger than we thought he would be. He is about 90 pounds right now, but the vet said he needs to lose 5 pounds so we are working on it! (Kids love to give him treats and he knows how to work that system!) Thanks for checking in, and I have included some pictures from a family photo shoot last October so he was about 18 months old here. Sincerely, Kristin L
p023 Jack and Rita D
Litter:
Thanks for keeping in touch. Hope we didn't overwhelm you with pictures. We have way toooo many, but just cant stop taking pics. He is really our love. He is doing OK, not quite as active as most, but we get out for a walk every day, and he loves to chase his tennis balls. He also loves the water, not many chances to really swim, but he has a small kiddie pool, that he loves to romp in. He has grown into a beautiful dog, and goes pretty much everywhere with us.The staff at Home Depot and Lowes all love him. we have a favorite Italian restaurant in town with outdoor seating. The owner always brings him a giant meatball and water, he is loved everywhere we go. We also made a road trip to Colorado for our daughters wedding in Sept. He traveled great in our little prius, to be the co-ring barer. We'd love to stop by and have you meet him, and him meet his Mom and Dad sometime in the future. Thanks again, Jack and Rita
p024 Tamara G "Kona"
Litter:
Kona is great (dopey and has a few extra pounds), but a sweetheart. Funny, we let her off her leash last night during a walk and we almost had to drag her out of a lake full of geese. She went charging and tuned out our commands until the edge when came to her senses. We are thankful she is part of our family! Thank you, Tammy
p024 Debbi S "Penny"
Litter:
Hi Don, Thanks for getting in touch. Penny is a WONDERFUL dog! She is incredibly loving and sweet. She does tend to steal socks and eat sticks, but that's okay. She's 80 pounds of love! I'm attaching some photos so that you can see her.

Hi Don, Thanks for the email and Happy New Year! We are doing GREAT! We love Lucy so much and she’s having a wonderful life! Attached are some pictures of her—she loves swimming, fetching sticks and balls, saying hello to everyone she passes, and licking the hands of our almost two year-old daughter. She is a wonderful dog and we’ve been so happy since she joined our family. Everyone who meets her loves her. She has an incredible personality and is so loving. How are Willow and Rufus? We hope you all are doing well. Thank you again for checking in. Best, Emily and Atle

Hi Don, Great to hear from you! All is good here with Coach ( aka Mellow Yellow ). He has grown to 107 lbs, and we love every lb of him. I have attached some pics for your viewing pleasure of Coach through his life so far. He has been an absolute joy to have. Sometime this year we would like to come up and visit if that is ok with you. Tim, Vickie, and Coach.
p027 Leslie L "Sierra"
Litter:
Well these are our two. Sierra is from you (1) and Bella is our little one(6). We lost our other golden not long after Sierra joined our family. Forgot what having a puppy was like. She's a love that's loves to chew. She has a lot of bones and balls. She has feathers on her legs and tail but her body is shirt hair. Strong girl. I think She looks like her mom. We had a stool problem the first few months but that's better. I ran into one of your puppy's in pet co that was a year older. Big boy. We have 1 more year of puppiness. Woohoo. Thank you for Sierra. Hi Don, Thanks so much for reaching out and Happy New Year! Gosh, I can’t believe it’s been over a year since we brought our Odysseus home. He has been such a complete joy and gift to our whole family. The big guy weighs 95lbs now, and is still growing, the vet says he is in great shape and looks fantastic.
On a side note just in the past couple of weeks he’s had a bit of a limp from what we’ve learned are “growing pains” nothing serious and it will go away once his bones stop growing. The vet took a look at his elbows and wrists and they all look great! From the moment we brought Ody home he has been a very well behaved boy. He is a calm guy especially for a puppy, but very happy to play and romp about. Ody and I spend about an hour each morning at the dog park where he has made a ton of friends. He takes a special interest in the puppies and smaller/gentler dogs. If any of the other dogs are getting too rough or pushy with them Ody will protect them. It’s pretty amazing to watch – he takes this job pretty serious.
I've attached a few photos two are pretty resent and one is from Ody's first night home with us. Ody is absolutely gorgeous, not that we are biased or anything. He has a great personality which I think you can kinda see in the pictures.
I hope you are your family had a wonderful holiday! Warm wishes, Rebecca, Dave, Theo, & Gabbie

p030 Kevin W "Odie"
Litter:
Hi Don - Thank you for checking in. Sorry it has taken so long to reply, things have been very busy for me at work as of late. Odie and I are doing great. He is happy and healthy (so thankful for that!) and he is without a doubt the single most important thing in life! I love walking in the door and being greeted by his smiling face and abundance of affection. A bunch of pictures attached. They are some of my favorites from the past 6 months or so. As I have eluded to earlier, I am so happy with the dog I received from you and would not hesitate to get another pup from you in the future. Many thanks and all the best, Kevin
p031 Melissa W
Litter:
Hello Don: We love our pup! She has fit perfectly into our family. She is happy and so are we. We include her on all our fun and she is a great companion. She loves other dogs, all of our friends (and their kids- two and four legged), our cat, and her "step-brother". She is a delight! Here are some pictures of her hiking, swimming and enjoying. Good wishes, Melissa
Don: Sorry to clog your email but this is another reason we love our pup. She is the best friend to her "brother" who we think has championed this long because of her! They are such great companions and we don't know how she will do without him. 15yrs old and counting!
Hi Don. Just read on news about forest fire in your area. Yikes! Hope everything is ok with you all, your property, and family- 2 and 4 legged. Our pup we got from you sends some wet kisses to her biological family. Just wanted to send a note and our best wishes that all is good. Best of luck, Melissa W
Don, Just wanted to send u this pick of our girl. We said goodbye to her best friend (16 yr old lab) this spring. But did find her a nice new friend from our local shelter recently. They are fast fiends. So happy to have gotten our sweet girl from you. She has been such an awesome part of our lives! She gets along well with everybody! Thanks. Melissa W
Last one!! sorry so many! First road trip w her new friend this summer. She knows how to get cozy on our drives to adventures! And has helped teach our new hyper girl how to relax in a car! Thanks! Melissa W

Litter:
Hi Don, Hadley is doing great! She's such an amazing dog. She's grown big - she's about 75lbs. She's beautiful and well-mannered and everyone loves her. Feel free to pass along my email address as a reference. We are very happy. Best, Ginny

p036 Barb C Santa Cruz "Nai'a" Dog Behaviourist
Litter: Penny / Max
Hey Don. She is a gazelle when running through nature or my yard. Her ability to use her nose is over the top. Sometimes gets her in trouble. I don't always like what she finds. Still under fifty pounds. Everyone thinks she is beautiful. Especially the color. I would not loose the dark color. It will be popular again. People think goldens are white now. Funny. Sometimes annoying, is, she is very private about her pottying. She absolutely does not want to poop on a leash. I need to drop it. she then hides in bushes at least 50 feet away. Now not a problem unless a squirrel appears. (We are working on this). Or if letting her off leash is not possible. This is where I become very frustrated!!!!!! We always think it is about dogs learning. But really it is us that needs to learn. :)) I absolutely love this girl!!! She is the BEST. I hope you keep a dark girl from the next Penny litter. Barb
p037 Beth K Sacramento "Riley"
Litter: Penny / Max
Hi Don and Family - Our kids came up with the name Riley for our little puppy. She has had a fantastic week here and we love her so much! Of course as a pup, she is a busy girl. She is adjusting well to her surroundings. I get up with her at 11:30, 2:30 and 5:30 so she can go outside. I will slowly add some time to that. I set up the medium kennel with the fence around it, so she has a nice area to be. She found some ripe figs that had dropped to the ground - so now we are busy picking up figs before she finds them. She really enjoys eating them - so we need to really watch her. I think they feel good on her mouth. And she is playing and biting, but quickly learning that there are better things to chew on. She is so responsive to commands already. She has not gotten to know our two cats yet, but she will over time. They have been about 5 feet away from her when she is sleeping.Thank you so much for her great parents and great beginning with life. Beth and Gary K; Colin, Melissa and Sarah
p038 Joey M "Stanley"
Litter: Penny / Max
Hi Don, just wanted to drop you a note regarding the male pup I adopted from Penny & Maximus. His name is Stanley and he has just been great! He's been to the vet and given a clean bill of health. He's had his 2nd round of shots. What I am impressed the most is that he hasn't been having any separation anxiety when I sneak out. He just whines when he needs to go potty to the yard. I am directing my friends to you when it's their time to adopt! And I'll be dropping by again when Stanley is older so we can adopt a 2nd (and maybe 3rd)! Joey
p039 Maria C "Mabel"
Litter:
Hi Don, A belated note to let you know that Mabel has settled in wonderfully, and is such an adorable, smart, playful girl who is growing by the minute! She's become good buddies with our older dog Martha (took about a week for Martha to warm to Mabel)—and my three daughters, Charlie, and I are all just completely smitten. She is wonderful! Thanks for being such a great breeder, and hope all is well with you. :-) Maria
p040 Paula M "Ellen"
Litter:
Hi Don, Here is our adorable baby, Ellen, 9 months and so beautiful. She is 51 lbs, mellow personality, and the love of our lives. She is perfect in every way. Love her so much!!! We, no, I am hoping to adopt another next year! Hope you, family and pups are well!! Best wishes, Paula Mingram
p036 Barb C Santa Cruz "Nai'a"
Litter: Penny / Max
Hey Don It's been a while. I thought I would check in. Nai'a is 16 months. She only gets better.... If that is possible. I suspect she takes after her dad mostly. She is self training. Long lean and a silk flat coat. I have been body surfing with her. She loves it. She is learning which waves to go under which to go over and which to turn and surf. :)) There just is nothing bad to say about this girl!! Thank you so much for hanging in there with me. Keep breeding the smaller goldens. Everyone loves her size (53lbs) I look forward to stopping by soon. Barb
p041 Jeanne and Rick M Reno, NV "Joanie" and "Nala" Repeat Adoptee
Litters: Willow / Rufus & Penny / Max
You asked me to send photos of Joanie and Nala. Hopefully this video will go through. They are healthy, happy and beautiful. We love them immensely - they are so smart and kind. They are true "sisters" andhave sibling rivalry like crazy, but are inseparable. They're swimming at our place in Graeagle where they love to run and swim. Joanie (blonde) is a protector and very loyal (and SMART) and Nala is calm and exceptionally sweet. They're the best!

Hi Don Happy Easter! Nai'a continues to amaze me. Not yet 2. And i can leave her free while contractors work around her. She knows it is work not social so she just goes to sleep. She loves to garden with me. Swim, and just be my companion. Accepts whatever situation I put her in. She is the best! Barb
p042 Eva S Viginia "Goldie Hawn"
Litter:
Hi Don! Goldie Hawn is doing wonderful and getting big!! She is so smart and it's amazing how fast she picks up on things. She was potty trained about 4 days after we got her and she has never had an accident in the house. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful addition to our family.
p043 McKenzie K "Peach"
Litter:
Hi there! Well I adopted my puppy from your home about 5 months and 1 week ago, so I figured it’s time for an update. If memory is hazy from all of the owners you saw on pickup day, I was the girl who had 2nd to last pick and brought my entire family to share in the experience. I chose the name “Peach” for my new daughter, and she’s been peachy ever since. Quite an extremist, as she is either wild as can be, or as mellow as can be. Overall, my feedback comes to this: she is everything I dreamed of and so much more. I’m so in love. A picture of Peach at 7 months is attached. This is her favorite spot. With love and gratitude, McKenzie K

Hi Don, Yogi is doing great settling in to his new home here with us! He did great on the way home (but got carsick once) and has been sleeping 6 hour stretches at night - woohoo! He is eating, drinking, playing, pooping and sleeping like a champ. We had our vet visit this morning and started our vaccine routine. Will go back every two weeks to keep building up his immunity! thanks again, liz, john, milo, arlo, and yogi - Here are a few photos:
p045 Patty & Kristen M "Sophie Rose"
Litter:
Hi Don, Just had to let you know how much love and joy Sophie Rose has brought into our lives. She is the sweetest, most beautiful, smart and loving puppy. Not only does our family adore her, but all of our neighbors and friends just love her and keep telling us how beautiful she is. We live in a neighborhood with many families and dogs, and Sophie seems to have won the hearts of everyone. She is very friendly and loves people and other dogs. She has been learning basic commands and learned to fetch very quickly.
My children are now grown and this is the first time we have had a family dog, so this all new to us. All of the details, instructions, training and tips that you provided on your website were invaluable. Special thanks for providing the direct links to order the items too, that made the whole process so much easier. Thanks again, Patty and Kristen M
p037 Beth K Sacramento "Riley"

She's a beautiful girl, full of energy and love. She weighed 71 lbs at her annual checkup. She looks so fit and trim I was surprised at her weight. We get many many compliments about her. Thanks for such an amazing girl! Beth K and family

p047 Donna H "Mojo" Vet Recommended
Litter: Penny / Max
Hi! I can't believe our wonderful puppy is now 1! Our Mojo was the green collar of the litter and you may remember us since our daughter fell into the puppy pool. He is truly a great dog and can't believe how lucky we have been with him. He has been an amazing additional to the family from day one by sleeping through the night off the bat, potty training quickly, and he's so loving, happy, and great with kids and other dogs. He gets into trouble here and there, but all up he has added such joy to our lives. My brother-in-law is Mojo's vet and he's been so impressed with Mojo's temperament and good looks that he's asked for your information to make recommendations to others. I've attached a few photos of our sweety through the years, including a few from our recent family photo shoot. Thanks for the great care you took during his first precious weeks and hope Penny and Max are doing well too! Cheers! Donna
Hi! Mojo definitely is a handsome boy and his color is gorgeous. The kids loved hearing that he looks a bit like Grandpa Rufus :) His color is getting darker and richer as he ages, so maybe it's still evolving. He's also a nice smallish size, which is great for us. All the best to mama Penny for the next litter. If those pups are anything like our boy, those owners will be thrilled. Happy holidays! Donna
p048 Nitya "Summer"
Litter: Tinker / Max
Hi Don, Here's wishing you and your family a wonderful New Year! Summer is 8 months old now. He is extremely sweet and intelligent, and we get compliments all the time on how handsome he has turned out to be. He looks a lot like Tinker, but he clearly has Max's energy! Right now he's in his teenage rebellious stage where he knows all his commands but chooses when he wants to listen to them! The trainer in his obedience class assures us it's just a phase and he will turn out to be truly golden when he is past it. Many people tell us he will even make an excellent therapy dog! He has been such a wonderful pup overall, and we hope our constant training will mould him as he grows. Anyway, thanks again for our darling Summer! Wonder if his littermates turned out to be just as awesome as him? Best wishes, Nitya and Srimanth
p049 Camryn M "Bailey"
Litter: Tinker / Max
Hi Don! We adopted our pup, Bailey, from you guys in June 2016 (Tinker and Max litter). I just wanted to thank you so much and also update you on how she's doing! She is just the greatest puppy! As of right now, she's 9 months old and she's just over 50 pounds. We put her in a basic training class when she was about 5 months and she did really well. She's very easy going and a good listener-- especially when there's treats involved! She's very curious and has a TON of energy. My little brother (12 years old) has Down's syndrome. He loves her so much and she loves him back. They're great together and they're both learning a lot from each other! She loves people and dogs and she's met a handful of farm animals, which she loved. Bailey is very smart and we're looking forward to putting her in more training classes this year so that she can reach her full potential. I'm hoping that eventually she and I can become a therapy dog team in the future. Bailey is my dream dog and I can't thank you enough!
Here are some pictures of her:
p045 Pat & Kristen M "Sophie Rose"
Litter: Tinker / Max
Hi Don, Our pup Sophie Rose (Tinker/ Max litter 4/20/2016) is absolutely amazing! We couldn’t love her more. We seriously look at her every day and can’t believe what a sweet, loving, obedient and gentle dog she is. We waited several years to finally get a dog for our family, and she is even better than we could have ever imagined. She has brought so much love and joy into our lives. She loves people, children, other dogs and gets along well with everyone. She is the darling of our neighborhood. We love her personality and her silky coat too.
Sophie was nearly potty trained when we first brought her home. All of your web information, details and recommendations were spot on, for which was are very grateful. Sophie passed Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience classes with flying colors. The instructor often used her as an example for the class!
To anyone looking to adopt a Golden Retriever, we would give the highest recommendation to NorCal Golden Retriever Puppies!
Feel free to share our recommendation and pictures on your site. Much thanks, Pat and Kristen

p51 Gary W Palo Alto, CA "Tanner"
Litter:
Hi Don, You must have mental telepathy of something. I was just mentioning to my wife, Shelia, that I should send you an email for several reasons: First of all to say “thanks” for providing us with our very special family member named “Tanner” Tanner is the best dog we have ever had and he is the joy of our lives. Our son, Jason, is on his own now living in San Francisco and working in sales for a software company. Therefore, as empty nesters, Tanner has filled the void when Jason moved out. However, Jason and Tanner have a special bond as “brothers” and Jason comes home regularly to visit Tanner. I have attached some pictures that say more than I can accomplish with words in an email. Again, Don, thank you so much for adding so much joy to our family and thank you for “checking in”. Best wishes, Gary L. W
p52 Stephanie C "Clover"
Litter:
Good afternoon, We are having a great time with Clover as part of our family. She is a lot of fun and we are loving watching her grow. She was amazing from the beginning on the potty training and other then a few stuffed animal casualties she has been great. We are in our second session of puppy classes and she loves other dogs and people. Here are a couple pictures of her recently. Thanks again for a great addition to our family.
p53 Tracy W "Takoda"
Litter:
Hi Takoda better known as Tako is awesome! She's almost 3 and has been my faithful sidekick since I brought her home. She goes to work every day and makes new friends as new employees meet her. Tako loves playing agility and will probably start competing soon. She earned her CGC last year on a rainy day in a wet goose poop field! Most dogs failed that test. She is so well balanced...loves to play with other dogs big and small. Loves kid and everyone she meets. We are so lucky to have her. Keep up the great work you do with your dogs. Ps...this dog loves the water! Can't keep her dry rain or shine. All around solid fun loving dog!
p54 Darla K "Gus"
Litter:
Hi Don! We are both doing well and we just love Gus to pieces! We couldn't imagine life without him! He is a true part of our family and is the smartest, sweetest and silliest dog I have ever had the pleasure of owning! We are consistently blown away by how smart he is! A few tricks he can do: sit, shake, lay down, crawl, stay, 'dance' (but only when invited), play dead, high five, spin in a circle, walk next to us without leash, comes back to us upon calling, and so many more!
We did enroll him in puppy training class after he had his full shots -so we had some help teaching him the basics - but really, after a few times teaching a new trick with reward based training - he has got it down! We, luckily, have not had to deal with too much destruction. When he does get into things - its usually tearing up some tid bits of paper or over the holidays, helping himself to a delightful wooden ornament. He likes to 'tear' things instead of ingest them - so again, we are very thankful for that!
More than being smart - is his amazing 'sixth sense' of knowing when either of us is sad, anxious or upset. In those instances, he will come up to us, put his head gently in our lap and comfort us - or sit very close, leaning his weight into us, letting us know he's there. We haven't started a family yet, but can't wait to see the joy and love he will share with any new (human) additions. We'd be happy to include some of our favorite photos here - and send others more frequently! Thanks so much for reaching out! Gus is the best dog and we are forever thankful for the superb upbringing you and your family provided! Warmly, Darla and Tristan S, and Gus ;)
p55 Jennifer W "Blaze"
Litter:
Hi Don, Blaze is a wonderful dog! He is goofy yet well behaved in the house, retrieves and loves the water. He is confident and playful and is good with kids. He has had a few stomach issues, I think caused from too many treats. Pumpkin, rice and chicken for a few days always does the trick when it happens. He also got an ear infection from playing in the water (according to the vet), so we use an ear cleaner that has a dessicant in it when we give him baths or when he swims.
Attached are a few photos of him, including a few from his favorite place to go, Point Isabel. Thank you so much for breeding a wonderful pup. ~ Jennifer
p56 Kyle S "Gunnar"
Litter:
Hey! sorry we never sent pics! here are a few of Gunnar. he is the best dog every. so friendly and loves kids! And yes he most definitely is still a "pup" but is starting to settle down a tad.
p57 Morgaine M Palos Verdes, CA "Teddy"
Litter:
Hi Don, Teddy is doing great! He has definitely come out of his shell since the day we took him home and has grown into an energetic, happy pup. He loves to run around in our backyard and play fetch. It's crazy how much he's grown in a few short months! He gets along well with people of all ages and likes other dogs, too. Right now we're in the process of teaching him basic commands. He knows sit, stay, come, off, leave it, and lie down. We've taken so many pictures of Teddy since December that it was hard to choose what to send you, but I narrowed it down to my personal favorites. The pictures of Teddy in front of the teddy bear were taken the night we took him home (Dec. 27) and this past Tuesday (Feb. 14). -Morgaine
p58 Audrey S Reno, NV "Chet"
Litter:
Hi Don! Wonderful to hear from you! We think of you all often and always refer you as our experience was excellent. Our pup “Chet” is doing fabulously! He’ll turn 3 on May 4th. Wow, where does the time go! He’s been an outstanding dog. His disposition is what we liken to a surfers … very, very laid back. J He’s been healthy throughout. Otherwise, all is well! Please reach out any time you’d like and if you’re ever in Reno, please call as we’d love you to see him. J All the very best, Audrey

Hi Don, We absolutely love Ginger, She has a Great personality!! She is our 5th Golden and our best one!! She loves to play in the water like all goldens. She is a Great hunter, she is always chasing squirrels & birds. She has caught many birds and dug up lots of moles. She likes to bring her new found toys into the house. Sometimes they are still alive. Thats always fun!! Here is a picture of Ginger and her sister Brandy (border collie). They have a blast all day chasing things so it's nap time when they come inside. Thanks so much for a Great dog!!! The M's Chris & Kim

Hey Don - Sorry for the delay. Been crazy busy on our end. You've been on the top of my mind to catch up with, glad you reached out. All has been great with Zelda the last several months. p64 Kate H San Rafael "Hammy"
Litter:
Hi Don! Great to hear from you. I've attached some pics of our sweet girl, Hambone. She is definitely the love of our lives and frankly, the ruler of our house :)
We call her Ham or Hammy for short. She is spunky and sweet and loves people - and most other dogs. She does have a tendency to get skittish - noises, certain people, etc.
We live in San Rafael and would LOVE to get her together with any of her siblings if they happened to live close, so let us know if you've heard the same interest! She will be 3 this May and we can't believe how time has flown. We certainly can't imagine our lives without her :) Some pics of her over the years attached. Best, Kate, Graham and Hammy H
p65 Toni B. Los Altos "Kiwi"
Litter: Penny / Max
Hi Don, Kiwi just got spayed yesterday so she's wearing that beloved collar. The little I know of Max and Penny Pepper, she seems like a great combination -- at 6 month+ she's only 37.6# so she'll be little, maybe smaller than her mom…maybe lighter also, I can't tell yet. And she has the tail wagging exuberance of Max. I love her!
I've been keeping my eye on a Penny Max litter and your website says it's here but no details at all. I'm curious because of Penny's next "life" in a home somewhere, maybe Los Altos! Hope your family is fine. Spring has come a little bit to the foothills?? Toni B
p66 Lisa P "Jackson"
Litter: Whisper / Rufus
THANK YOU! Lisa
p67 Amy R Truckee "Sherpa"
Litter:
Hi Don, "Lady Red Collar" is named Sherpa and she is amazing!! We love her so very much!! She and our daughter are the best of friends! Sherpa brings so much joy and love into our lives everyday! We are so thankful that we have her!! She is very smart and so very loving!!! I hope you enjoy the pictures!! We live in Truckee and she loves to swim, hike and play in the snow!! We couldn't have asked for a better dog!!! Have a great evening!! Amy
p68 Lisa B "Murphy"
Litter:
Hello, We just thought we would send you a little update on M1. We named him Murphy. Our travel home Thursday evening went great. He didn't get sick. He slept great that night, and has really done pretty good each night. He is having an adjustment getting used to his crate. He barks and whines at the beginning, but does eventually settle down. I think he is just adjusting to his new environment, and being by himself without his litter mates or mommy. He loves to be with us, and cuddle. In fact, one of his favorite things is to be held like a baby with his blanket and rocked. LOL That should be interesting when he is 60-70 lbs. :)
He went to the Vet on Saturday so that we could get him checked out within the 4 day period of the contract. We were already attached in less than 24 hours so it's not like we would have sent him back if there was a problem, but he was totally healthy. He weighed 8lbs 5 oz., and was perfectly healthy. We did find out today, after his stool sample came back, that he has round worms, but they said that isn't uncommon in a puppy. He started antibiotics today. We haven't seen any signs (lack of appetite, diahrrea, etc.) so I'm sure the antibiotics will take care of it quickly. He really has been a great puppy so far. Doing well with potty training, pretty mello, and great with being introduced to new sights, sounds, etc. I think we picked just the right one for us. :)
Thank you so much! We will keep in touch for sure. How did the rest of the puppy pick ups go? Have you heard how any of his littermates are doing? Kindly, Lisa B
p69 Kerrie B "Quinn"
Litter:
Hi Don, Our 5 pound pup Quinn has grown up into a gentle, goofy, loving 60 pound pup. She luckily hasn't had any health issues, and has a wonderful demeanor with dogs and people of all sizes. Every few months I beg my husband to add a second golden, but with a baby on the way I sort of understand that we might have a full plate. Here are some photos of Quinn in action. Kerrie
p70 Katherine L "Bacon"
Litter:
Hello! Fun to hear from you. Bacon is living quite a great life. J He was named by our then 5 year old (now 8). He lives between SF and Tahoe. I’m attaching a recent photo of him enjoying all this snow. Hope all is well with you! Katherine

p73 Karen R San Mateo "Bella" 2nd pup
Litter:
Hi Don, We have been having so much fun with our new puppy which we named her Bella. I wanted to let you know her ride home from Grass valley to San Mateo she was just fine. Just a tiny throw up and that was it. My son held her all the way home. There were times she liked looking out the window and then lay on his lap and just relaxed. Our Molly I is doing fine the first day when we got home she barked a lot and then we separated into different rooms. Now we go in the backyard Molly on her leash and we have Bella on a leash and we keep them at a distance but just to look at each other and get use to roaming the yard. Molly has not barked at her since Sunday and now just walks and looks into the kitchen where we have a gate to separate them and we have one of those crates you attached a picture of in the kitchen. It's going very well Bella is such a sweet heart. I will, email pictures soon to you. Just want to update you about Bella. My son is coming up with different good names to then register through AKC real soon. We have an appointment set up for Bella's next shots with Molly's wonderful vet. Karen R

p75 David H "Gracie"
Litter:
Hi Don, Gracie is a wonderful member of the family. She has not had any serious health problems and is very sweet. She is easily trainable as she is incredibly intelligent. We recently had a child and she is great with him as well as other dogs. Couldn't have asked for a better golden and we look forward to one day adding another golden to the family. Below are a few pictures of her. Thanks! David H
p76 Kathryn W "Lucy"
Litter:
Hello - Lucy is doing well. She is a sweet dog who is healthy and active. In fact she is so active the vet said she needed to gain some weight so I increased the amount of food and she gained about five pounds. She is a pretty dog - her coat is light and she has some curls which leads to questions from some folks who think she isn't a Golden.
Lucy and I have had a rough year in that my husband Bruce passed away May 22nd. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November of 2014 and fought the good fight for about 18 months. Lucy and I miss him terribly. In addition we lost our other Golden, Abby, about four months ago. She was 15 years old and doing well until she wasn't. So there has been a lot of adjustments for sweet Lucy.
Now that I'm alone, Lucy is proving to be a very good watch dog. I think she has super sonic hearing as she is alert to everything! She's a funny little girl and I love her. She is good with my four, soon to be five, grandchildren who are all very young. One of the reasons we love Goldens. Hope you all are doing well up there. Best regards, Kathy W
p77 Celeste C "Rudi"
Litter: Cinnamon / Max
Hi Don, All apologies for being out of touch. You are absolutely correct: we all live crazy busy lives. Our golden pup, Rudi, is thriving and we absolutely love everything about him. He is healthy and happy, with an engaging temperament with humans and other dogs. He's very popular at the dog park and on walks generally. It's not unusual for him to get requests to take his picture. You'll see from the pics that I'll send separately that he is quite a handsome boy like his mother and papa. We hope that you and yours are very well and wish you all and Cinnamon and Max (his folks) all the best!!! Celeste & Patrick Hi Don. As promised here are pics of Rudi and his sister Hanne. Keep well. Celeste
p78 Laurel O "Schooner"
Litter:
Hi Don, Thanks for checking in. So Schooner has grown into a strapping 2 year old at 85 pounds and all muscle. He is the sweetest dog when it comes to our friends and family, but is very protective (aggressive) towards other dogs. He and our 12 year old cat have become fast friends and he even makes sure that the cat is in at night by herding him in. When Schooner was young we took him on our boat, which was great and allowed him to be potty trained by the time he was 13 weeks. As an only pup there were things he did not learn, like biting hurts, and we had a difficult couple of weeks teaching him that. Once we broke him of biting he became a very sweet and loving dog. We really think that he believes he is human, when it is movie night he climbs on the couch and snuggles with the family and enjoys watching the film with us. He has definitely been a great addition to our family and all three girls love him to bits. I think the one most effected by Schooner has been my husband as he never thought another dog could replace our Skipper, but Schooner has met that challenge. They spend lots of time snuggling, playing ball and wrestling, which are all things that he used to do with Skipper. I have given your name out several times as we are very happy with our "pup". I have attached several photos from over the past 1 1/2 years. Have a great week, Laurel O
p79 Laura L "Stanley"
Litter:
Don, Stanley is great. He's very sweet and loves everyone. We waited until he was 18 mo to have him altered so he is a healthy 70 lbs. He stole the kids soccer balls :), loves to play in the pool and run around in the yard. we have a big backyard and lots of humans to take him for walks/hikes. Our five grandkids live with us and have since we got him so he just switched litter mates. We wouldn't trade him for anything. Laura
p80 Michelle D "Molly"
Litter:
Hi Don, We absolutely love Molly and we're so happy with her temperament. She's a smart, obedient, loving and playful family member. Thank you for breeding such an amazing dog! I'll send some pics separately. Michelle
p81 Nate G "Ginger"
Litter:
Hi Don - We couldn’t love our girl, Ginger, more. She is absolutely the sweetest dog we’ve ever known, and so good with our children. She was easy to train and loves to swim with us in our pool, though she is the only one who will swim year round, the rest of us find it too cold. We don’t know if it’s just her, or if her brothers and sisters do this too, but she has an actual smile, which comes out when she’s especially excited, and makes us all laugh. We are very grateful to have her, she is a very special dog and a precious part of our family. Thank you for checking on us, and for bringing us Ginger.
p82 Teresa J "Chloe"
Litter:
Hi Don, We lost our older golden a couple of weeks ago so I have been a little behind in returning emails. Jake was 13 years old in February and such a part of our family. It's been tough. Appreciate your checking in on Chloe. She is a wonderful dog and is doing great! She is still a pup in many ways! She is very curious and energetic, yet has such a sweet, gentle spirit. She is very intuitive and you can tell she misses Jake. She is well behaved and is an absolutely beautiful Golden! We couldn't be happier with her! I will try to send some photos soon. Teresa J
p83 Pat and Kristin "Sophie" Published!
Litter:
Sophie received her 15 minutes of fame in Modern Dog Magazine’s “Dog of the Week” photo contest. This picture is from when she was 8 months. http://moderndogmagazine.com/photocontest/entry/sophie-rose-0 Thanks again, Pat and Kristin
p84 Pam F "Kona"
Litter: Penny / Max
Hi Don, I wanted to share some photos of Kona (pup 6 from Penny Pepper and Maximus July 11, 2016 litter). She is quite the personality has grown so quickly! She loves everyone and her favourite pastimes are the dog park where she plays with other puppies and visits all of the people, and going swimming whenever she can. She loves the beach and I think she would join the surfers if I would let her. She loves getting petted and I have had many children and teens ask to pet her or take pictures with her when we go on walks or to events. She learns quickly and can be quite stubborn when she wants something! The past year has gone by quickly and she has been a wonderful addition to my life.
